Between 2012 and 2016, I spent a lot of time watching what Uber and other transport disruptors were doing. Every new press release, product update, and feature announcement had me questioning whether we were keeping up. I was competition centric, constantly measuring ourselves against what others were doing in the market.

But something clicked in 2016. After reading yet another glowing media piece about Uber’s latest “innovation”, I took a hard look at what they were promoting. To my surprise, I realised something important. Almost every feature they were announcing, we had already been offering for years.

We just didn’t have the marketing budget or media exposure to shout about it.

That moment changed the way I thought about growth and service in this industry. Instead of focusing outward on competitors, I turned my attention inward to our clients, to our systems, and to how we could create a better experience for the people who actually use our service every day.

And I have never looked back.

Customer-Centric Thinking Changed Our Business

When we stopped chasing competitors and started listening more closely to our customers, everything became clearer. We streamlined our booking process, enhanced real-time tracking, made our pricing more transparent, and strengthened our operations team.
