Private airport to cruise ship transfers

Cars on Demand provides private airport to cruise ship transfers in Sydney and at every major Australian cruise port. From Sydney Airport (T1 International, T2 Domestic or T3 Qantas Domestic), the drive to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay or White Bay Cruise Terminal in Rozelle usually takes 25 to 40 minutes. Your chauffeur tracks your flight, meets you in the terminal, loads your cruise luggage into a car sized for it and drives you straight to the ship at a fixed price agreed when you book. No surge pricing on busy ship days, no taxi queue, no lugging suitcases on and off a train.

Why cruise passengers book Cars on Demand

Your holiday starts at the airport, not the gangway.

Fixed price, no surge on ship days

Your fare is locked in when you book. It does not jump when thousands of passengers leave the ship at the same time.

Flight tracked, met in the terminal

We track your flight, so an early or late landing never costs you. Your chauffeur meets you at T1, T2 or T3 and handles the bags.

A car sized for your luggage

Every vehicle class has a set suitcase count, so you know your cruise luggage fits before the boot opens.

Chauffeurs who know the terminals

From the lower roadway at the OPT to the James Craig Road entry at White Bay, we know the drop-off rules at every terminal and time your arrival to your check-in window.

The whole group in one vehicle

Families and groups travel together in a People Mover or Minibus, instead of splitting across rideshares that arrive at different times.

Trusted since 1990

99.99% on time, 24/7 support on 1300 638 258, and free cancellation up to 4 hours before pickup.

Cars and boot space

Choose the right car for your cruise luggage.

Cruise suitcases are bigger than business luggage, and most cruise transfers go wrong on bags, not seats. Count your large suitcases first, then the people.

Sydney cruise ship transfers

Sydney has two main cruise terminals, and they are not interchangeable. Check your cruise documents for the terminal before you book. If you are unsure, add your ship name in the booking notes and we will confirm the terminal for you.

RouteDistance (approx.)Drive time (approx.)
Sydney Airport to Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay13 km25 to 35 minutes
Sydney Airport to White Bay Cruise Terminal, Rozelle15 km30 to 40 minutes
Western Sydney International (WSI) to either terminal50 to 55 km60 to 80 minutes

Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay

The OPT sits on Circular Quay West in The Rocks, opposite the Sydney Opera House. There is no parking on cruise days and drop-offs are limited to two minutes, so a chauffeur who knows the lower roadway entrance off George Street makes embarkation morning far easier. Coming home, we meet you at the palm trees outside the terminal.

Overseas Passenger Terminal transfers

White Bay Cruise Terminal, Rozelle

White Bay is home port for many of the large ships sailing from Sydney. On cruise days the only road access is via The Crescent and James Craig Road, and GPS apps that send drivers to Robert Street in Balmain get turned away at the gate. There is no train station, no long-term parking and no luggage storage nearby.

White Bay Cruise Terminal transfers

Garden Island and other Sydney berths

When both main terminals are busy, some ships berth at Garden Island in Potts Point. Your cruise line will tell you if this applies. Let us know in your booking and we will plan the drop-off around the access arrangements for that day.

Best way to get from Sydney Airport to the cruise terminal

There are five realistic options. The right one depends on how much luggage you have, how many people are travelling and how much certainty you want on the day.

How much does an airport to cruise ship transfer cost?

Your airport to cruise ship transfer price is fixed when you book. It is based on distance, the vehicle you choose and any tolls or airport parking, which are passed through at cost and itemised on your tax invoice. It does not change because a ship has just docked, a flight was delayed or the Harbour Bridge is slow. For a family of four with cruise suitcases, one People Mover is often comparable to two taxis or a premium rideshare, and everyone travels together.

How your cruise transfer works

  1. Book online or in the app. Add your flight number, cruise terminal, ship name and how many large suitcases you have.
  2. We track your flight. If you land early or late, your pickup moves with it.
  3. Meet and greet. Your chauffeur meets you at T1, T2 or T3 and helps with your luggage.
  4. Straight to the ship. No stops for other passengers, dropped at the passenger drop-off for your terminal.
  5. Home again. Book the return leg at the same time so a car is waiting when you disembark.

Flight tracking. We track your flight. Land early or late and your pickup moves with it, so you still make the ship.

Cars on Demand booking screen showing the Delay driver arrival by option, with free courtesy waiting time of 30 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights

Lots of cruise luggage? When you book, set ‘Delay driver arrival by’ so your chauffeur arrives once your bags are off the carousel. Your free waiting time starts then: 30 minutes for domestic flights, 60 for international.

Cruise day timing tips

Embarkation day: bag drop generally opens from around 9am, and the Port Authority of NSW asks passengers to arrive at least an hour before departure. If you are flying in on the day, leave a generous buffer. Many passengers fly in the day before and take a hotel to cruise terminal transfer in the morning.

Disembarkation day: ships usually arrive early in the morning, and passengers typically start leaving around 30 minutes after the ship berths. Book your pickup for the time your cruise line gives you, and your chauffeur will contact you by SMS that morning.

Cruise transfers from Western Sydney and regional NSW

Not every cruise passenger is flying in. We collect from homes and hotels across Greater Sydney, including Parramatta, Penrith, Liverpool, the Hills District and the Northern Beaches, as well as from Western Sydney International (WSI). We also run long distance transfers to and from the Newcastle Cruise Terminal and from the Central Coast, Southern Highlands and Wollongong. Trips over 90 km receive an automatic long distance discount.

The same fixed pricing, flight tracking and meet and greet service is available at every major cruise port in our network.

Cruise ship transfer FAQs

How long does it take to get from Sydney Airport to the cruise terminal?

About 25 to 35 minutes to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay and 30 to 40 minutes to White Bay Cruise Terminal in Rozelle, in normal traffic. Allow more time on weekday peak mornings.

What is the best way to get from Sydney Airport to the cruise ship?

For most cruise passengers, a pre-booked private transfer is the simplest option because cruise luggage is bulky and both terminals have strict two-minute drop-off rules and no long-term parking. The train works for light packers heading to the OPT, but it is not practical for White Bay.

How much is a private transfer from Sydney Airport to the cruise terminal?

Cars on Demand quotes a fixed price at the time of booking based on distance and vehicle type, with tolls and airport parking itemised at cost. The price does not surge on busy ship days. Use the instant quote for your exact fare.

Where will my driver meet me when I get off the ship?

At the Overseas Passenger Terminal, private car pickups meet passengers outside the front of the terminal near the palm trees. At White Bay, they meet directly outside the front of the terminal. Your chauffeur will contact you by SMS on the morning.

Do you track my flight if I am going straight to the ship?

Yes. Every airport pickup includes flight tracking, so your pickup time adjusts if your flight lands early or late.

What size car do I need for my cruise luggage?

Executive and Premium Sedans fit 2 suitcases, a Premium SUV fits 3 large suitcases and a People Mover fits 6. If you have more than two large suitcases, book a Premium SUV or People Mover so everything travels in one car. Groups of up to 11 can book a Minibus.

Do you offer cruise transfers outside Sydney?

Yes. We provide cruise transfers to Station Pier in Melbourne, the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal, Fremantle Passenger Terminal in Perth, the Adelaide Cruise Terminal at Outer Harbor, and the cruise terminals in Darwin and Cairns.
