If you’re flying through Sydney Airport, especially for a domestic connection, chances are you might need to move between Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3). Don’t worry — you’re not alone. Many travellers, both seasoned and first-timers, find themselves asking the same thing:
“Can I walk from T2 to T3 at Sydney Airport?”
Good news: Yes, you can walk between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3. And we’re going to show you exactly how, with answers to the most commonly asked questions.
Technically, T2 and T3 are not physically connected inside the terminal buildings. But they are adjacent, and the walk between them is straightforward, signposted, and outdoors. There’s no need for a bus or train for this journey.
It’s a comfortable 7 to 10-minute walk, depending on your pace. You’ll follow a well-marked, undercover footpath, and if you’ve got rolling luggage, you’ll find the path smooth and flat. It’s easy for most travellers — even with a suitcase in tow.
If you’re helping someone else plan their journey, or you’re picking up a family member, keep this short walk in mind for timing.
Once you exit Terminal 2, follow the signs that direct you toward Terminal 3. The route is through the public area outside, and there’s plenty of signage to guide you. You’ll cross a small road, continue along the designated pedestrian path, and within a few minutes, you’ll be outside T3’s departures and arrivals zone.
Tip: If you’re transferring between Qantas and Virgin Australia, this walk is especially relevant — Qantas uses T3, and Virgin operates from T2.
Not for domestic terminals. Since the walk is so short and manageable, Sydney Airport does not provide a shuttle service between T2 and T3. The shuttle services at Sydney Airport are reserved for international to domestic transfers or parking and hotel transport.
If you’re travelling with mobility needs or young children, we recommend arranging airport assistance ahead of time with your airline. Alternatively, a reliable airport transfer service — like a private Sydney airport pickup — can provide comfort and door-to-door ease between terminals if needed. (If you’re moving between terminals due to changing airports, such as between Sydney and another city, consider using a professional airport transfer service for a seamless trip.)
Walking between Sydney Airport’s T2 and T3 is quick, free, and easy. While it might feel like a small hassle when you’re short on time, it’s a manageable and clearly marked path that most travellers complete without issue.
If you’ve got time, take it slow and enjoy the brief fresh-air stroll between flights. And if you’re feeling rushed, don’t worry — you’ll be there in under 10 minutes.
