Quick answer: A Melbourne Airport meet and greet chauffeur service means your driver tracks your flight, parks, and waits for you inside the arrivals area of your terminal with your name on a sign. They help with your luggage and walk you to the car, so you never have to find a pick-up zone, a taxi rank or a rideshare bay on your own. With Cars on Demand, meet and greet is included at all four Melbourne Airport terminals (T1, T2, T3 and T4), and your price is fixed when you book.
Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) is roughly 20 to 25km north-west of the CBD and handles four terminals, three domestic and one international. Since 6 October 2026, the way passengers are picked up from T1, T2 and T3 has also changed. This guide explains how a meet and greet chauffeur works at Melbourne Airport, exactly where your driver waits at each terminal, and how it compares with a taxi, rideshare, SkyBus or a friend in the car park.
Key takeaways
Landing at Melbourne Airport soon?
Book a flight-tracked chauffeur who meets you inside arrivals. Get an instant quote and book in under a minute.

A meet and greet chauffeur service is a pre-booked private car transfer where the driver comes into the airport terminal to collect you, rather than waiting outside in the vehicle. Your chauffeur stands at an agreed meeting point in the arrivals area, holds a sign with your name, helps with your luggage and walks you to a car parked nearby.
It differs from a standard kerbside pick-up, where you have to find the car yourself, and from a taxi or rideshare, where you queue or wait in a designated bay with your bags. For international arrivals, families, older travellers and executives coming off a long flight, it removes the most stressful part of landing: working out where to go next.
Here is how a Cars on Demand Melbourne Airport chauffeur transfer works from booking to drop-off:
If you can't see your driver, reply to their text or call our 24/7 line on +61 413 905 215.
Your chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals area of the terminal your airline uses. The exact spot is confirmed in your booking and by SMS on the day, and you can check it before you fly on our airport meeting points page. Not sure which terminal you're landing at? Check your booking or Melbourne Airport's live arrivals board.
After you clear immigration, customs and biosecurity, you exit into the ground-floor arrivals hall through either Gate A or Gate B. If you come out of Gate A, your chauffeur is directly outside, between Optus and Hudsons Cafe. If you come out of Gate B, turn right and walk ahead, and you'll find your chauffeur at the same spot between Optus and Hudsons.
For Qantas flights arriving at gates 1 to 12, your driver meets you in front of luggage carousel 1, next to the car rental area. For other gates, your chauffeur will text you the exact meeting point near your baggage carousel.

Your driver meets you at the bottom of the escalators in the arrivals area.

Your driver meets you at the exit doors after you collect your luggage. Follow the airport signs to your carousel, and your chauffeur's SMS will confirm the exact meeting point on the day.
On 6 October 2026, Melbourne Airport moved private car pick-up and drop-off for Terminals 1, 2 and 3 into the new T123 Transport Hub. According to Melbourne Airport's official guide to the changes:
In practice, if a friend or family member is collecting you from T1, T2 or T3, you now walk from the terminal to the hub with your luggage and find them on the right level. With a meet and greet chauffeur, none of that is your problem: your driver comes into the terminal, finds you, takes your bags and leads the way to the car.
If you or someone travelling with you needs extra help moving through the precinct, Melbourne Airport also runs a free Melbourne Airport Assist service with Travellers Aid. Let us know in your booking notes and your chauffeur will plan the pick-up around it.

Arriving with luggage, kids or an older parent?
Skip the walk to the hub. Your chauffeur meets you inside the terminal and handles the bags. Get your fixed price.
Every option gets you out of Melbourne Airport. The difference is where you meet your ride, who carries the bags and how certain the price is when you land.

Because we track your flight, your waiting time starts from when you actually land, not your scheduled arrival time. Every Cars on Demand airport pick-up includes complimentary waiting time: 30 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights.
International arrivals at T2 can take a while to clear border control, collect bags and pass biosecurity, especially when several long-haul flights land together. If you expect to need longer, for example with checked bags, children or a busy customs hall, add a driver delay when you book. Your chauffeur then times their arrival to match, and your complimentary waiting time is added on top.
Book for your luggage as well as your passengers. Browse our fleet or use this as a guide:
Travelling with young children? Australian Standards-compliant child seats can be added to your booking and installed before pick-up.
Many of our Melbourne Airport bookings are made by someone other than the passenger: an Executive Assistant arranging a visiting director, an event manager bringing in speakers, or a family member organising a parent's flight home. Add the passenger's name, mobile number and flight number, and we handle the rest. The passenger doesn't need to pay in the car, and phone numbers are masked for privacy.

Your meet and greet chauffeur can take you anywhere from Tullamarine. A few of the trips we run most often:
The run into the city usually takes around 25 to 40 minutes, depending on traffic on the Tullamarine Freeway and CityLink. Comparing your options? Read our Melbourne Airport to city transfer guide.
Popular with corporate travellers and returning residents, including Hawthorn, Kew, Camberwell and Balwyn.
From Brighton, Beaumaris and Sandringham to Williamstown, Essendon, Point Cook and Werribee, your chauffeur picks the fastest route based on live traffic.
Longer regional transfers are where a private car really earns its keep after a flight. Journeys over 90km receive 10% off. See our guides to Ballarat to Melbourne Airport transfers and getting between the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne Airport.
Two offers are available when you book, and both are selected from the drop-down menu in Extras during your booking:
