Quick answer: SYD Hosts is Sydney Airport's new official meet and greet service for passengers using the T1 International Terminal. A dedicated host meets you at the kerb or check-in for departures, or at the aerobridge for arrivals, and guides you through check-in, security, passport control, baggage and immigration. It starts on 2 November 2026 and is booked online through Sydney Airport. Cars on Demand can collect you from anywhere in Sydney or from outer cities such as Newcastle, Wollongong, the Central Coast and Canberra, and hand you over to your host at T1.

Sydney Airport has announced SYD Hosts, a bookable concierge-style meet and assist service open to every international passenger travelling through T1, not just those flying at the front of the plane. It follows the airport's recent paid Fast Track security lane and is part of a broader push into premium passenger services at Australia's busiest international gateway.

This guide explains what a Sydney Airport host does, what it costs, who it suits, and how to plan the part the airport does not cover: getting you, your family and your luggage to T1 on time, then home again when you land.

Key takeaways

What Is SYD Hosts at Sydney Airport?

SYD Hosts is a personal airport guide service run by Sydney Airport itself. According to the official SYD Hosts page, once you book, you are assigned a host who is briefed on your journey before the day of travel. On the day, the host meets you at the agreed location, guides you through each airport process and stays with you until the end of your airport journey: the boarding gate if you are departing, or the transport pick-up point if you are arriving.

Sydney Airport's Group Executive Commercial, Mark Zaouk, told KarryOn the service is aimed at travellers who want extra support, comfort and convenience, particularly people unfamiliar with the airport, families, and passengers who are short on time. With more than 42 million people moving through Sydney Airport each year, T1 can be a lot to navigate on your own.

What Does a Sydney Airport Host Do?

The service changes slightly depending on whether you are leaving, landing or connecting.

SYD Hosts for T1 departures

Your host meets you at the kerb or at check-in, then stays with you through check-in, bag drop, security screening and passport control, all the way to your boarding gate. KarryOn reports the agreed meeting point can be T1 international check-in or Premium Valet.

SYD Hosts for T1 arrivals

Your host meets you at the aerobridge as you step off the plane, guides you through immigration and baggage collection, and escorts you to your onward transport. If you have booked a chauffeur, that is where your host hands you over.

SYD Hosts for transfers and connections

Transfer passengers can be accompanied to their onward connection, and Sydney Airport says hosts can help with cross-terminal transfers where applicable.

What is included:

  • A dedicated host who stays with you across your airport journey
  • Help with up to four standard bags per booking, including bag drop at check-in or collection from the carousel
  • Guidance through check-in, security, passport control and immigration
  • Cross-terminal transfer support where applicable

How Much Does SYD Hosts Cost?

Sydney Airport's Hosts fees and charges page lists the host service at AUD $409 for 1 to 4 people with up to 4 bags, for T1 arrivals, departures and transit. Each additional group of up to 4 people is another $409, and extra baggage help is $219 for each additional 1 to 4 bags.

T1 transit meet and greet, 1 to 4 people, up to 4 bagsAUD $409
Each additional group of up to 4 peopleAUD $409
Porter add-on, each additional 1 to 4 bagsAUD $219

Prices are as published by Sydney Airport at the time of writing. Bookings can be changed or cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the service, and Sydney Airport says late changes inside 24 hours attract a fee of 70% of the booking value. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Always check the official SYD Hosts page before you book.

SYD Hosts vs Fast Track vs Airline Assistance: What Is the Difference?

SYD Hosts is a person who walks with you through the whole terminal. Fast Track is a paid lane: Executive Traveller reports it gives you access to the T1 Priority Entry for security, but it does not extend to the passport e-gates. Airline assistance is the free support your airline arranges for passengers with disability or specific access needs.

Sydney Airport is clear that SYD Hosts does not replace airline accessibility assistance. If you need mobility support, contact your airline first. You can still book a host, but Sydney Airport says it will only provide the parts of the service your airline does not already provide free of charge.

Who Should Book a Sydney Airport Host?

  • Families travelling with young children, prams and a trolley full of bags
  • Older parents flying overseas alone, or arriving in Sydney for the first time
  • Nervous or first-time flyers who want someone to guide them through each step
  • Executives and VIP guests whose Executive Assistant wants the whole journey looked after
  • Passengers with tight connections through T1

Getting to Your Host: Chauffeur to Sydney Airport T1, Then a Handover

A host looks after you inside the terminal. Getting to the kerb on time, with every bag, is still up to you. That is where a pre-booked chauffeur fits in: we collect you from home, the office or your hotel, drive you to T1 and hand you over to your host.

How the departure handover works

  1. Book your host on the SYD Hosts website and note the meeting time and place.
  2. Get an instant quote and book your car with Cars on Demand. Add your flight number, and in the booking notes tell us you have a SYD Hosts booking and when you are meeting your host.
  3. We time your pickup so you reach the T1 departures kerb before your host meeting time, allowing for traffic and tolls on the way.
  4. Your chauffeur unloads your bags at the kerb and hands you over to your host, who takes you from there to the gate.

How the arrival handover works

When you land, your host meets you at the aerobridge and walks you through immigration and baggage. Your Cars on Demand chauffeur tracks your flight live, so they are ready when your host brings you out of arrivals. From there, it is a short walk to the car and straight home. See our guide to Sydney Airport T1 pick-up points and our airport meeting points for exactly where your chauffeur waits.
